Celia C. Diaz, 85, Colorado City, passed away peacefully at the Hendrick Hospice Center of Abilene on Thursday, January 4, 2018 with family by her side.
She was born on October 23, 1932 to Jose and Ezquel Lujan Carrasco in Colorado City.
Celia was a woman with a large heart who always put her family first. Her children and her grandchildren were her world. She had a joyful personality, always smiling and cracking up jokes or teasing those that she loved. She was the type of woman who liked to know everybody and to make sure that everybody knew her. Being the woman that she was she took pride in helping to raise several of her grandchildren when her children needed her assistance for a little while. As a woman with a very large family it comes as no surprise that she was an amazing cook, her tortillas were one of her specialties. Other than cooking Celia enjoyed sewing, watching her soaps and collecting souvenirs. Her warm smile, tender heart and comforting words will be missed by all that knew her.
Celia is survived by her children Eddie Diaz of Colorado City, Sonny Diaz of Houston, Alice Diaz of Colorado City, Cecelia Diaz of Colorado City, and Delia Diaz also of Colorado City, by 33 grandchildren and by several great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Sabina Carrasco, and several nieces nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Ernesto Diaz Sr. and by her sons Frank Diaz, Joe Diaz, Freddie Diaz, Ernesto Diaz Jr, and Alfred Diaz.
A graveside service for Celia will be held on Friday, January 12th at 2 pm in the Mitchell County Cemetery, the family will be present for a visitation at Kiker Seale Funeral Home from 12 until the time of the service with a rosary to be performed at 1 pm.
